Operation Christmas Child (Samaritans)

Description of the role
Volunteer van drivers will use their own or our hired van to collect shoeboxes over several postcode areas in November.
Volunteers mainly work from home and will set their own working times of several hours a week. There are busy periods and slow periods in the year. There is no activity in the Christmas holidays.
Practical Considerations
All of our roles emphasize forming a relationship with the donors, mainly through phone calls with emails used too, and visits are sometimes helpful. Computer familiarity is an advantage. Drivers need to have a valid van driver’s license.
Any specific requirements
- Must be 18 or over
- Requires references
- Must own or have access to a computer
Where is the opportunity based?
Most of the work is done at the volunteer’s home with occassional visits to donors and attendance at events.
When is the opportunity available?
Most of the volunteer time is flexible but there are some online and in-person training and events we hope you can attend.
About the organisation
We encourage UK individuals and groups to send their love in a shoebox, packing it full of simple gifts to be given unconditionally to a child overseas.
The children are chosen solely based on need by a church local to them, and each child will have the opportunity to hear of the great love of Jesus.
This is an annual campaign and we use seasonal and all-year volunteers to support donors and collect the shoeboxes in the area near the volunteer.
Volunteers in the areas of Bromsgrove and Redditch are needed, and in most areas of the UK.
