Description of the role

The Let’s Waste Less volunteers work on behalf of the waste team at Worcestershire County Council to encourage residents to reduce the amount of waste they throw away; this could be composting at home, being more #FoodSavvy in the kitchen, recycling more or reusing or repairing items.

Anyone can be a Let’s Waste Less volunteer – you don’t need to be an expert, just passionate and interested in making a difference!

We have lots of things that we can offer you including;

  • Events – From informal coffee morning chats to big shows, we are always trying to get out and about.
  • Talks – Gardening clubs, WI’s & Probus groups are always asking us to talk about waste and composting – don’t worry, we have a selection of standard talks you can have.
  • Writing of articles – For parish council magazines or local publications.
  • Social media – If you are a whizz on Insta or TikTok we would love to talk to you.
  • Work in schools – Inspiring the next generation is very important.

Where is the opportunity based?

This opportunity is based across Worcestershire. Further information to be discussed with the organisation.

When is the opportunity available?

You can give as much or as little time as you wish. Some of our volunteers are very active and have regular commitments such as a stand at a local repair café, but some only do a few hours here and there. All we ask is that you log your hours so we know how many the overall total is.

Let’s Waste Less Volunteers encourage people in their local community to reduce the amount of waste they throw away.

Anyone can be a Let’s Waste Less Volunteer. You do not have to be an expert in waste prevention as you will receive full training. You can specialise and concentrate on one area of waste reduction such as composting, food waste, repairing or fashion waste, or you can advise on all aspects of waste reduction.
