CORE Men’s Community Network

Description of the role
Volunteers will support the key project worker to facilitate group sessions, acting as an extra pair of hands (and eyes) to help out.
Group sessions generally last between 3-5 hours and may be more physical activities such as gardening or walking, or seated activities such as board games, crafts etc. Volunteers may dip in and out of engaging in activities, taking the lead at times, or stepping out to do other tasks.
Some tasks might include:
- Welcoming clients
- Making drinks (Tea, Coffee, Water)
- Helping to make lunch (sandwiches, toast)
- Overseeing/Engaging with groups
- Supporting clients with basic paperwork and forms.
- Reporting any safeguarding or behaviour concerns to project worker.
- Assisting with opening up and closing down group sessions.
Optionally, volunteers might also choose to support with:
- Administrative tasks such as maintaining a database
- Creating marketing documents such as leaflets and online posts
- Planning events and new sessions
We would be looking for a reliable and respectful individual with strong communication. Some group sessions may be dependent on the volunteer being present, so it is essential that volunteers notify us ASAP if they cannot attend, or in advance ideally.
Some qualities include:
- Friendly and approachable. Customer service background desirable but not essential
- A good knowledge of a range of men’s hobbies, including sports.
- Clear DBS check (We will provide this)
- Experience working with people, and potentially challenging behaviour.
- Drivers ideally, but those confident with local transport also welcome
- Able to make a good cup of tea or coffee and make basic lunch meals
- Happy to help out and support with local community projects
- Essential digital skills to use smart phones, and basic PC use desirable.
- Punctuality and reliability.
Practical Considerations
- Most sites will be accessible, but we are looking for independent individuals.
- Clean DBS needed (We will provide this)
- Travel expenses can be reclaimed for travel to group locations
- Basic training provided to cover essentials

- Must be 18+
- Must live locally.
Where is the opportunity based?
Community centre locations across Bromsgrove, Redditch, Kidderminster, Droitwich, Worcester. Specific locations not yet confirmed.
When is the opportunity available?
Mon-Fri between 9:00 – 17:00 – Group sessions will either be in the morning or afternoon and last 3-4 hours.

CORE is a network for men and male identifying individuals, providing information, advice and guidance to enable connection with others, and engagement within the community. It provides information about support bases, wellbeing services, and opportunities to connect with other like minds, whilst allowing men to gain a variety of skills and enhance their wellbeing and confidence.
