Cats Protection

Description of the role
A new support service has just launched in the Midlands – Paws Protect, a specialist cat fostering service for anyone fleeing domestic abuse. As many refuges are unable to accept pets, this service offers a lifeline to people who are taking experiencing domestic abuse and want to ensure their pet will be safe too. To support the launch of Paws Protect in the Midlands, the team are now looking for volunteers to open up their hearts and homes to cats in need. Fostering a cat is a great opportunity to enjoy the company of furry friend but without the cost involved or the long term commitment, whilst also knowing that you’re supporting a survivor to get to safety. Not only that, 96% of Paws Protect volunteers say that fostering a cat has had a positive impact on their mental health and wellbeing.
We are looking for volunteers who love animals, are empathetic and caring people.
Practical Considerations
No free roaming pets in their home (such as cats or dogs).
Any specific requirements
- Minimum age of 18.
Where is the opportunity based?
The foster cat(s) will be in your home so anyone from Bromsgrove or Redditch can apply.
When is the opportunity available?
For as long as you foster a cat.
About the organisation
We are here to help people see the world through cats’ eyes
Since 1927 we have helped cats across the UK and helped people to better understand their needs. As a community of volunteers, employees, supporters and partners, we’ve improved the lives of millions of cats and transformed the way millions of people see and care for cats.
Our vision is a society where every cat has their best possible life because they are protected, cared for and understood by everyone.
This is not an easy thing to achieve, but that’s the point. It’s challenging and ambitious. But by moving towards it we’ll continually make the world better for cats and people.
We also have a clear definition of what we all do in Cats Protection – the mission we are on to deliver our vision.
We are a movement of people championing the welfare of cats. We lead society in a richer understanding of all cats and care for those that need our help.
This can be summed up by our purpose. If we can help everyone to better understand cats and their needs, we can help them to behave differently towards them, to care for them in the best way and to ensure the world appreciates and protects cats. That is why our purpose is:
To help people see the world through cats’ eyes
