Group Coordinator

Re-Engage

Description of the role

We’re launching a brand new social activity group in partnership with Bluebird Care Bromsgrove & Redditch and we’re looking for volunteers who can make this group a reality.

Our social activity groups are free to attend, for those aged 75 and over and are monthly. We’re looking for a group coordinator to support this group.

As an activity group coordinator, you’ll plan, organise and schedule monthly activity groups in your local area. This is an administrative role that requires communicating and socialising with older people and volunteers from all walks of life.

The activity group will be at the same venue, which Bluebird care have kindly offered the use of their office space and will include older people, activity group leads, drivers, and the activity group coordinator. Activity groups normally last around two hours and will include an activity or activities to engage and have fun with and we’re open to ideas, suggestions from volunteers and attendees.

Activity groups are free monthly groups that are open to older people who are lonely, isolated and in need of companionship. Activity groups are a great way for older people to stay active and to make new friends in their local area.

We’re looking for activity group coordinators who have:

  • Good admin and organisation skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • A friendly nature
  • Good listening skills
  • Good conversation skills
  • Patience and understanding
  • A passion for improving the lives of lonely and isolated older people
  • Basic computer skills (our checks, training and activity group reports are all online and our charity is paperless)

Practical Considerations

  • Expenses are paid for certain activities.

Any specific requirements

  • Will require references.
  • Must own a computer or have secure access to one.
  • Must be over 18.

Where is the opportunity based?

This opportunity is at Millennium Court, 3, Bromsgrove B60 3DX

When is the opportunity available?

This is a flexible voluntary role that can easily be fitted in around your own lifestyle and availability. Planning and organising the first activity group is likely to take several hours of your time, but once the activity group is up and running you’ll be volunteering for around four hours a month – roughly broken down into two hours planning and two hours attending the activity group. We’re looking for activity group coordinators who can commit to volunteering for at least 12 months.

About the organisation

Re-engage provides vital, life-enhancing social connections for older people at a time in their lives when their social circles are diminishing.
