Redditch & Bromsgrove Talking Newspapers

Description of the role
This is an opportunity to join an enthusiastic team of volunteers in producing our weekly programme, providing news from across the Redditch and Bromsgrove areas for the sight impaired and others who are unable to read. In addition to the news we also have several other sections including an Advice Centre and a weekly quiz. There is also a Lucky Dip which features a variety of topics from history talks to poetry reading.
We seek volunteers to either record readings, or source news from local papers as Cuttings Editors and for the more technically minded help with Production and Sound Editing.
Producers are generally involved in the early part of the week developing a Running Order on a spreadsheet template.
Cuttings Editors operate across Tuesdays and Wednesdays sourcing articles from online newspapers and forwarding them to readers.
Readers are normally required to record from home once a month on a Wednesday, as one of a team of 5 per week. They then send their recordings to the Sound Editors by We Transfer.
The Sound Editors pull all the articles together, edit them and then upload onto the internet
A separate team load the recordings onto memory sticks which are sent by post to those listeners unable to access the online facility.
