News from the Arts Council
We have been informed by Arts Council England (ACE) that our Round 1 ‘Creative People and Places’ bid, submitted in March, has not been successful.
We have had some initial feedback from our contact at ACE, who explained that they had received applications totalling more than twice the funds available in Rounds 1 and 2, indicating just how competitive this programme is.
ACE have advised that our bid was considered fundable – i.e. it met their criteria – and our proposals had a number of strengths in relation to management and governance in particular. However, they decided they waned to take other bids forward.
We have been invited to obtain a copy of the assessment of our bid, which we will certainly follow-up. There will also be an opportunity to meet with ACE to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of our bid, with a view to making a new submission in Round 2, early in 2020.
Whilst the Consortium members are disappointed that we aren’t going through to the final stage, we are not despondent, and have unanimously agreed that we should make a new submission in Round 2 next year. We will build on the feedback from ACE, undertake further consultation with partners and communities across the town, and refine the ideas contained in our original bid. We will continue to keep you informed, and will welcome any ideas that you have for improving the chances of success next time round.
The bid is being developed by a Consortium of local partners:
